It also gained them two Grammy nominations. The next year, they released Sawdust followed by their third album, Day & Age, in 2008.

The band has not been without controversy. Flowers has made a few rivalries with The Bravery and Fall Out Boy. He said that the bands, especially The Bravery are riding on the coattails of the success of The Killers. Flowers has since apologized to all of them, saying "I'd like to take it all back - these people are just doing what they want to do, just like I am," and said that he was "not proud of" his actions.
