Radiohead, an English alternative rock band, hail from Oxfordshire and are composed of Thorn Yorke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, electronics), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, other), Ed O'Brien (guitar, vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass, synthesizers), and Phil Selway (drums, percussion). While attending Abingdon School in Oxfordshire, the boys formed the band "On a Friday", recording songs and playing local gigs. After acquiring two band managers Chris Hufford and Bryce Edge, the band signed their first deal, a six-album recording contract in 1991 with EMI. The label requested the band change their name, and they have been Radiohead since.

Their debut EP, Drill, was released in March 1992. The album had minor success, but it was still a way of getting the band's name out in the market. Their actual debut album, Pablo Honey, was release in February 1993, which featured an increasingly popular song "Creep" that led the group to their first US tour in 1993. Their next couple of albums did similarly slowly well, proving Radiohead as a band that would have to work hard to break through into the charts and with critics. The release of their album OK Computer was met with critical acclaim and followed by the "Against Demons" world tour.

In early 1999, the band began working on a follow-up to that album, though there was much tension within the band with members sharing different views for their future. They eventually agreed on direction, coming up with a sound style that resulted in the release of their fourth album, Kid A in October 2000. To date, the album was Radiohead's greatest commercial success and even debuted at number one in many countries. They released a couple other successful albums following that one, and in October 2007, they released their seventh album, In Rainbows, offered as a digital download. The band shifted from standard rock music and leaned towards an emphasis on electronic sound after time, and the members often began shifting roles in various instrument uses and provided them with a greater flexibility than before.
