Mana is a rock band that hails from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico whose sound ranges from hard rock to Latin pop with calypso and reggae influences. They formed in 1980 under the name Sombrero Verde (Green Hat) and began by singing English covers, but soon added Spanish songs also. The released their first album in 1981, Sombrero Verde, and their second album, A Ritmo de Rock, in 1983.

In reorganization, they changed their name to Mana, which means "supernatural force". Fher Olvera was lead vocalist, along with brothers Juan Diego an Ulises Calleros on guitars and Alex Gonzalez on drums. They released a new album under Polygram in 1986, but they were unhappy with the label, so they made a change to Warner Music and released Falta Amor in 1990. "Rayando el Sol" became a hit off that album the following year and the band performed in Mexico, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia.

With the coming of Ivan Gonzalez and Cesar Lopez and the leaving of Ulises and Calleros, Mana continued to undertake tour schedules and appearances. Soonafter, Gonzalez and Lopez left the group and they hired Sergio Vallin to play guitar. They released Cuando los Angeles Lloran and also started a foundation that same year, Selva Negra, an ecological work.

In December of 1998, Carlos Santana invited them to work with him on his album Supernatural, which gave them great exposure in the European markets, Asia and the Middle East. Recent albums which brought Grammy awards include Revolucion de Amor and Amar es Combatir. The latter album features a Bachata song entitled "Bendita Tu Luz", a duet along with Dominican singer Juan Luis Guerra, a big name in Latin-America.
